PUMA and Hello Kitty Partner on an Iconic Duet #ForAllTime

For over 40 years, fans have been smitten by Hello Kitty. She may only be as tall as five apples and weighs the same as three, but her influence spans the world over, gracing all things ‘kawaii’ since she first debuted in Japan in 1974.

The PUMA Suede born in 1968 has long established its iconic status with roots in sport and relevance in the sneaker world. Both Hello Kitty and the PUMA Suede are certified pop cultural icons #ForAllTime.

Everything about the collection, from the red bow-toms to her milk bottle icon, pays homage to Hello Kitty, the little girl from London who loves fresh-baked cookies and Mama’s apple pie. Bold colours, cheeky graphics and fun, intricate details make this offering uniquely endearing.

We’ve seen the Suede get funky, fresh, chic and sporty. Now, we see the silhouette at its cutest. The PUMA x Hello Kitty Suede Classic toebox, tongue, laces, heel and Formstripe are a radiant red, popping against a Hello Kitty pattern and a chunky white sole. A notable detail includes the red bow-toms that showcase Hello Kitty’s signature bow, beaming through translucent outsoles. The PUMA x Hello Kitty Suede Classic shoes are available in adult and junior, pre-school and infant sizes.

Apparel pieces round out the PUMA x Hello Kitty capsule collection. The PUMA x Hello Kitty Tee in white with the collab logo is all charm, while a red-white T7 set is peak adorable. The PUMA x Hello Kitty T7 Hoodie in red features the iconic 7cm stripe along the shoulder and arms with the trademark logo on the front and back. The PUMA x Hello Kitty Pants, also Red with the T7 stripe, feature a small Hello Kitty icon on the front right leg and her classic milk bottle icon on the back of the left hip.

A nod to Sanrio’s “small gift, big smile” philosophy, the capsule collection also features supercute coordinating accessories like the Red-White PUMA x Hello Kitty Backpack and Gym Sack with an unforgettable collab logo and the PUMA x Hello Kitty Cap with a red translucent bill.

The PUMA x HELLO KITTY Suede collection drops on Thursday, 8 February at PUMA SELECT and selected retailers.

First Look: PUMA Suede 50 Breakdance Cities Pack

The Suede 50 party keeps it poppin’ as PUMA honours its hip-hop heritage with the Suede 50 Breakdance Cities Pack.

The Suede 50 Breakdance Cities pack pays respect to the four most influential breakdancing cities worldwide: New York, Berlin, Paris and Seoul. PUMA give props to these cities that has kept B-boy culture alive, tracing back to the Bronx, its birthplace, across the pond in Paris where the subculture went onto mainstream media, then finding the breaks in Berlin. Eventually, the culture permeated to the Far East, making a major splash in Seoul.

In four distinct colourways, each Suede Classic is embossed with a graphic treatment that celebrates its respective city and each pair has a matching tee. Complementing the kicks are Breakdance Tees each bearing the city name.

Suede Classic New York is all swag in a plush orange suede upper and Formstripe with blue lining that pops while keeping it classic atop a thick white sole. The fat laces come in orange, white and blue, add the gold 1968 lace locks and they’re certified fresh. Suede Classic Paris keeps it clean with a blue suede upper, liner and Formstripe to sit pretty on the chunky white sole. Set it off with fat laces in white, blue and red set in place nicely in gold lace locks. Suede Classic Berlin is bold in a red suede upper and a black liner on that big white sole. Fat laces (black, red, yellow) are eye-catching with the gold lace locks.  Suede Classic Seoul is refined and ready with a birch suede upper and liner atop that timeless sole. Fat laces (birch, white and blue) are polished with the lace locks.

The Suede 50 Breakdance Cities Pack is available at PUMA SELECT and selected retailers nationwide.

The adidas Orignals adicolor collection has dropped!

adidas Originals revives adicolor, its most iconic apparel franchise. Cultivated in the 70’s, the range is an instantly recognizable symbol of sports and street culture which returns in 2018 remastered for the present with the confidence to playfully celebrate color for a new generation - never afraid to poke fun at itself.

Pairing the colours from the past with those of today, four meaningful adidas sport hues were carefully selected as the starting point for the overall inspiration for both Men’s and Women’s SS18 collections. The primary colours which are now referred to as Bluebird, Fairway Green, Scarlett Red and Sun Yellow were first seen in 1983, when all-white adicolor shoes were presented alongside a set of felt-tip pens, and reappeared in 2006 for Color Series, an adidas collaboration with some of the world’s best-known and most highly regarded creatives, creating unique pieces around a specific colour. Taking inspiration from the past collections, the SS18 offering plays with these iconic shades and creates tonal ensembles to render a palette relevant for today.

adicolor SS18 offers a curated archive selection with the most influential adidas silhouettes of past decades in a self-referential play. Classic styles are reimagined for today through the use of innovative fabrics and refined fits. Style and taste move beyond fixed gender binaries - focusing on interesting product, not ignoring femininity but rather offering a more sophisticated acknowledgement of its many different faces. Branding is refreshed by manipulating logo size and proportions and unexpected placement.

adicolor transcends cultures and eras to redefine itself in perpetually new contexts. Always taking colour seriously, and taking itself less seriously.

The adicolor collection is available at adidas Originals stores, Sportscene and www.adidas.co.za.
