First Look: PUMA x Sue Tsai Wildflowers Collection

PUMA partners with New York-based artist and designer, Sue Tsai to create a bold and edgy capsule collection with custom renditions of classic PUMA silhouettes – Cali and Nova. Known for her bold and edgy style, the debut collection beautifully showcases the crossover of art, fashion and pop culture.

For the debut of PUMA x SUE TSAI, Sue uses her signature style to tell a story of flowers gone wild, rising up to take the planet back from humanity. Vibrant cherry blossom bombs and lotus rocket ships explode onto a camouflage backdrop, creating a streetwear collection that’s at once gorgeous and untamed, delicate and powerful.

Beautiful and delicate on the outside but powerful and strong within, her collection brings a contemporary and playful set, that combines her vision of art and fashion across footwear, apparel and accessories. An evolution of the court platform silhouette, Cali 'Peonies Camo' S.TSAI is designed with a soft leather upper with an all over military camouflage print overplayed with hand-painted feel flower graphics. The heavily textured rubber sole with moulded rubber inserts on toe and heel create a chunkier look. Nova 'Cherry Bombs' S.TSAI is a sleeker fashion-forward running silhouette with soft leather and neoprene upper and contrast mesh lining. Featuring intricate hand-drawn flower graphic on the upper with bold colour blocking, the sneakers are built with a sculpted split sole design and thick outsole tread. The round two-tone poly laces and added heel tape with co-branded silicon print complete the look.

For the apparel, Sue chooses a mix of sporty and streetwear silhouettes. Inspired by original PUMA style from 1994, the PUMA x SUE TSAI XTG Track Top with an iconic curved cutline on the chest boasts a black peony allover print on the lower. The cropped PUMA x SUE TSAI Hoodie with branded tape along the sleeve features digital wild flower print at center back and PUMA x SUE TSAI Tights with contrasting T7 side inserts can be paired with the PUMA x SUE TSAI Tee.

The adidas Orignals adicolor collection has dropped!

adidas Originals revives adicolor, its most iconic apparel franchise. Cultivated in the 70’s, the range is an instantly recognizable symbol of sports and street culture which returns in 2018 remastered for the present with the confidence to playfully celebrate color for a new generation - never afraid to poke fun at itself.

Pairing the colours from the past with those of today, four meaningful adidas sport hues were carefully selected as the starting point for the overall inspiration for both Men’s and Women’s SS18 collections. The primary colours which are now referred to as Bluebird, Fairway Green, Scarlett Red and Sun Yellow were first seen in 1983, when all-white adicolor shoes were presented alongside a set of felt-tip pens, and reappeared in 2006 for Color Series, an adidas collaboration with some of the world’s best-known and most highly regarded creatives, creating unique pieces around a specific colour. Taking inspiration from the past collections, the SS18 offering plays with these iconic shades and creates tonal ensembles to render a palette relevant for today.

adicolor SS18 offers a curated archive selection with the most influential adidas silhouettes of past decades in a self-referential play. Classic styles are reimagined for today through the use of innovative fabrics and refined fits. Style and taste move beyond fixed gender binaries - focusing on interesting product, not ignoring femininity but rather offering a more sophisticated acknowledgement of its many different faces. Branding is refreshed by manipulating logo size and proportions and unexpected placement.

adicolor transcends cultures and eras to redefine itself in perpetually new contexts. Always taking colour seriously, and taking itself less seriously.

The adicolor collection is available at adidas Originals stores, Sportscene and www.adidas.co.za.

FENTY x PUMA Spring-Summer 2017 Favorites Are Starting To Hit Stores This Week

Previewed last September at Paris Fashion Week, the coveted FENTY x PUMA Spring-Summer 2017 collection hits stores starting 9 March 2017. The Spring-Summer 2017 collection fitting for the season stuns in a mélange of extravagant fabrics, intricate ruffles and pleating, Chinoiserie, corsets galore, playful bows and gender bending silhouettes in a delicate colour palette of blush, mint green, lavender, pink and white.

PUMA’s sport heritage echoes through as Rihanna brilliantly reimagined and transformed traditional track suits, boxing robes, tennis dresses, polos and iconic footwear silhouettes.  Maximalist at best, she played up with exaggerated and oversized shapes and contrasted soft hues with hard edged street-inspired looks for both men and women.

First to release are head-turning footwear styles that caused a ruckus in the fashion world when they first graced the Paris runway. The FENTY x PUMA Bow Slides in olive branch and silver pink elevates lounge and poolside wear to a whole new level with the softest leather material and statement oversized bow.

The theme continues with the FENTY x PUMA Bow Sneaker, a femme fatal hybrid of PUMA’s iconic Trinomic runner also in olive branch and silver pink.

The FENTY x PUMA Bow Sneaker and Bow Slide will be available from 9 March at PUMA SELECT Bree Street, Cape Town and selected retailers.

PUMA and STAMPD are starting the new year with the announcement of a fourth collaborative collection for the Summer 2017 season.

STAMPD founder and creative director, Chris Stamp, stays consistent with the brand’s “Made to Make It” mantra for the series.  The collection challenges the boundaries of materials and takes cues from architectural elements and characteristics that make California unique. Continuing the evolution of contemporary luxury and performance innovation, the outcome is a collection of summer-ready pieces with functional elements, wetsuit inspired silhouettes and muted camo motifs. Inspired by the notion of ‘96 Hours’, each piece is designed with surfers and urban nomads in mind - essential gear that can be worn from morning to evening during a weekend getaway on the beach.

Kicking off the season with the PUMA x STAMPD Clyde (R3 499) which has been re-mastered with rich perforated leather and the PUMA x STAMPD Trinomic Woven Sock, available in muted tones of black and tonal camo.

Timeless pieces inspired by California surf culture sans the tropical floral prints. STAMPD fuses a wind jacket and backpack (R4 499) to help protect you from the elements without taking it off. Other pieces in the collection include laid-back tees (R1 299), tanks (R1 199) and a longsleeve top (R1 199).  Complete the look with the STAMPD cap (R449) and duffle (R2 499).

With bonded cutlines, contrasting zippers, and dropped armholes for unique layering, this look is feminine with a touch of edge.  Performance gets premium elevating with a typical bra with a low cut racerback finish, the PUMA x STAMPD Bra Top (R699) gives the perfect contrast and support to match the jumpsuit.

Pharrell Williams Presents His First Collection As Head Of Imagination For G-Star RAW

G-Star’s Head of Imagination, Pharrell Williams unveiled the Elwood X25 collection – a fresh interpretation of the 3D G-Star icon that celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

This marks the release of the first project co-created by Pharrell since his appointment as Head of Imagination of the denim brand.

The collection was introduced as a life-sized installation at ComplexCon, a convention and festival that took place in California last weekend, showing the iconic jeans in 25 colorful prints in an all-natural Alpine-like background.

With check, camouflages and traditional patterns from all over the world, these 25 prints – carefully selected by Pharrell himself – symbolize G-Star’s ever-present commitment to innovation and self-expression.

The artist reflects:

“What we are trying to do is make a space for creativity and experimentation. We’re not trying to tell people what to do and what to think, but just help them to express themselves openly. To choose what to wear and how to wear it. This collection is about freedom of choice- it’s about adding democracy to your wardrobe.”

The G-Star RAW Elwood X25 collection will be available in selected stores and online as of February 2017.
