PUMA Reinvents Lacing With Netfit Technology

Continuing in PUMA’s tradition of developing game changing innovations, they revealed NETFIT – a unique customizable lacing system that offers infinite performance and style options in one shoe.

NETFIT Technology enhances fit and support by combining a high grade engineered net with form-fitting base materials. With netted mesh, you will now have complete control and versatility over how you lace up. No matter the style, needs, or shape, you can customise your shoe the way you see fit. The options are limitless, bringing customization to another level and giving you the chance to be as creative as you possibly can.

From the track, to the gym, to the street, NETFIT Technology will be featured on several sports and performance shoes. The innovation and performance teams at PUMA have developed five different lacing options to help provide guidance, but the possibilities to lace are endless. The 5 lacing systems include Standard lacing, for runners who need minimal support; Stability lacing, for runners who need additional medial support; Wide Foot lacing, for runners with wider feet that need extra room; Narrow Foot lacing, for runners with narrow feet; and Heel Support lacing, for runners who prefer a tighter fit around the heel.

PUMA’s top athletes, including the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, will be wearing shoes featuring NETFIT Technology to train for the World Championships in London 2017. “I do a lot of training - sometimes a bit too much – and it’s always different. Sometimes I’m doing power work, and then sometimes it’s speed and agility work, so it’s important to have a shoe that’s flexible enough to do the right exercise,” says Bolt. “The best thing about the NETFIT Technology is that it is customizable and I can lace them any way I want; not only to get the best fit, but it gives me the opportunity to be creative with it. Sometimes you wish you could just design shoes purely tailored to your own feet and now you can. Plus, they look great, and that’s always the most important thing, right?”

NETFIT Technology will also be available on a range of PUMA Football products giving players endless scope to customize their game. And for those who believe that style starts at their feet, NETFIT will also launch on key lifestyle silhouettes such as the Tsugi.

PUMA NETFIT Technology will officially be launched in May 2017 and will be available starting now with the Speed IGNITE NETFIT; men’s and women’s IGNITE NETFIT, Tsugi NETFIT, IGNITE Limitless NETFIT  and 365 evoKNIT NETFIT.

Introducing the Eye-Catching IGNITE evoKNIT by PUMA

PUMA shakes up performance running with the introduction of IGNITE evoKNIT. Featuring all-new evoKNIT technology and striking visual details, IGNITE evoKNIT effortlessly combines PUMA’s innovative running technology with disruptive streetwear design.

IGNITE evoKNIT makes its aesthetic mark with a fully knitted upper for form-fitting comfort, stretch and breathability, plus a branded, collared sleeve along the ankle for full support and a street-ready look. The upper also features a supporting strap that allows stability within the heel to lock it onto the platform of the shoe.

The midsole features IGNITE Foam, PUMA’s proprietary material with exceptionally responsive, energy-returning qualities. This premium cushioning is enhanced by a chevron grooved design that has been sculpted to compress during landing and rebound, providing spring and energy with each step. This guides the runner through a smoother toe-off and overall ride, with durability and traction infused into the heel and forefoot. IGNITE evoKNIT is a true performance running shoe, providing key features that serious runners require.

While acknowledging these key performance innovations and benefits, the IGNITE evoKNIT exudes a contemporary streetwear-inspired vibe. It intertwines fashion and design with innovation and technology. IGNITE evoKNIT is made to be the boldest on the block. It’s designed to be unstoppable, whether it’s worn hitting the streets or heading out for the night with friends.

PUMA Introduces IGNITE

PUMA is proud to introduce IGNITE, a performance running shoe featuring innovative foam technology that maximizes energy return to keep you running longer. Worn by The World’s Fastest Man Usain Bolt, IGNITE is PUMA’s most responsive running shoe, optimizing comfort and durability. Designed for a wide range of runners, if you put the energy in then PUMA IGNITE gives it back.  UsainBolt launched the sneaker in New York on 10 February 2015.

Powering every stride is IGNITE foam; proprietary foam that provides responsive cushioning, optimal rebound and comfort.  Strategically placed in the heel of the shoe is ForEverFoam—a compound used heavily in the automotive industry.  This material creates long-lasting durability and is entirely new to the market.

“Training every day is pretty tough”, said Usain Bolt.  “I start out with a running shoe to warm up before going into a spike, and I need a shoe that is comfortable and keeps my energy up.  I love IGNITE for that, and can feel it make a real difference.  It’s a pretty good looking shoe as well.”

Karin Baust, Running Training Business Unit General Manager at PUMA commented, “We’re proud to bring IGNITE to the market. This shoe has been a long time in the making, we’ve been working on the foam innovation and tooling for a number of years.  It’s extremely satisfying to launch IGNITE because an advancement in footwear technology like this doesn’t come around every day, and we’re confident this is going to have a big impact on a wide range of runners around the world.”

PUMA IGNITE will retail for R1699 and will be available in men’s and women’s styles. In subsequent seasons, additional styles will be introduced and the IGNITE line will be expanded further within the Running and Training categories. To #IGNITE your run, visit PUMA stores and selected retailers nationwide from 5 March 2015.

PUMA and Usain Bolt ‘Ignite’ New York City

On 10 February 2015, Usain Bolt was at the heart of a spectacular stunt in New York. He launched PUMA IGNITE, a running shoe that provides maximum energy return. In the energy hub of the city that never sleeps, runners powered away on treadmills in Times Square throughout the day with the energy from their IGNITE shoes being collected and stored.  When the threshold reached 100%, the World’s Fastest Man rose up in a theatre of light, smoke and fire.

This wasn’t the first time Usain Bolt has made a grand entrance in New York.  In 2008 he broke the 100m World Record for the first time and set upon a stunning track and field career that has seen five World Records, and 14 Major Championship Gold Medals.  The World’s Fastest Man warms up and trains in PUMA IGNITE, to maximise his energy output and maximize his training impact.

Usain Bolt said, “I’ve always enjoyed a good entrance, and this one was epic.  People were running for hours on end in really cold weather, we were watching the energy meter rise and when it hit the top, it’s fair to say there were fireworks.  IGNITE is a great a running shoe, along with PUMA spikes, I spend a lot of time training in this shoe as well and it really helps to sustain my energy levels.  I love IGNITE for that.”

“I’m excited to be back here in New York with PUMA,” continued Usain.  “I have special memories of this city - I always have a great time whenever I’m here, whether I’m competing or otherwise.  It’s always good to back.”

Following this launch, PUMA and Usain Bolt have challenged runners in ten cities around the World to follow suit through regional epic running events.  The campaign IGNITE YOUR CITY will travel to Tokyo, Japan next week - with other renowned cities to follow. In South Africa, PUMA is calling runners to #IGNITE their city by using the hashtags #IGNITECapeTown or #IGNITEJozi.  The more you use the hashtag, the more you will illuminate your city on a virtual PUMA map of the world – check it out here http://global.puma.com/en_ZA/ignite-your-city?locale=en_ZA

PUMA IGNITE has been in development for nine years, and features an innovative foam technology that makes it PUMA’s most responsive running shoe. IGNITE Foam is a proprietary foam that provides high-energy return, comfort and optimal durability.  Strategically placed in the heel of the shoe is ForEverFoam, which is entirely new to the industry.  This ForEverFoam compound is what gives the shoe maximum durability.

PUMA IGNITE will retail for R1699 and will be available in men’s and women’s styles. To #IGNITE your run, visit PUMA stores and selected retailers nationwide from 5 March 2015.
