Camo, Distressed Denim and Dope Sneakers

On Wednesday, 2 March 2016, I attended the SpreeAutumn/Winter Collection Preview for 2016. The event was well attended and guests included celebrities, influencers and fashion journalists to name a few. It was great to see what Spree has to offer for the A/W2016 season. It was also cool to see that the ‘athleisure’ trend continues from Spring/Summer into Autumn/Winter!

For the event, I decided to stick to the ‘athleisure’ trend and wore:
  • A Camoflauge Shirt by GAP;
  • Distressed Demin by Topman; and
  • Dope Sneakers by PUMA.

Introducing The PUMA Made in Italy R698 – A Dope Collaboration Between PUMA, LC23 and BACKDOOR

PUMA revealed a special collaboration with two renowned Italian labels – LC23 and BACKDOOR. Dedicated to true footwear connoisseurs this Made in Italy release uses the finest materials and craftsmanship for a refined take on PUMA’s running classic – the R698.

The PUMA ‘Made in Italy’ R698 remains true to the original silhouette and is enriched with material elaborations. LC23 founder Leo Colacicco worked with PUMA designers to incorporate a soft premium textile material, typical of their Italian Oxford shirts. BACKDOOR decked out the midsole with the brand’s colours, finished off with their stamp on the Trinomic logo that fastens the laces. A hand-sewn label on the tongue represents the triple collaboration.

LC23 was founded in 2011 by Leo Colacicco, an industrial engineer with a weakness for fashion who started the label sourcing handmade apparel from his hometown in Apulia, southern Italy.

BACKDOOR is a sneaker concept store in Bologna started in 2007 by Marco Evangelisti and Jacopo Pozzati. The store is one of Italy’s foremost resources for fashion, lifestyle and contemporary brands.

The PUMA ‘Made in Italy’ R698 will retail for R1 799 and are exclusively at Shelflife from 30 July 2015.

Introducing the PUMA NYY And NYK TRINOMIC Pack

Global Sports Brand PUMA have released the latest Trinomic pack, this time they took inspiration from the heart and soul of American team sport culture – the New York Yankees and New York Knicks. PUMA tips its hat to their sporting influence and re-imagines their famous colour ways through archive running silhouettes

The NYY NYK pack divides itself into two ‘teams’ - NYY, the Yankees, and NYK, the New York Knicks. Two iconic teams from different sporting worlds, baseball and basketball, that embody the density and richness of New York’s most watched sports. The Yankees, based in the Bronx are instantly recognisable through their signature colours, navy blue, white and grey. The New York Knicks, from the heart of Manhattan are famous for their blue and orange uniform.

Each team’s colours are channeled through the R698 and Blaze of Glory sneakers. Both styles are equipped with Trinomic technology, one of PUMA’s signature features, employing neoprene and honeycomb cell cushioning for support. Additional technical detailing is created through a mesh vamp and the use of suede and leather overlays creating clever blocking on the Trinomic midsole. It is in these details that the iconic colours of the New York Yankees and Knicks are brought to life. The colour palette and material play is mimicked across both of the classic PUMA silhouettes to create a coherent and impressive pack.

The R698 NYY and the R698 NYK will retail for R1599. The Blaze of Glory NYY and the Blaze of Glory NYK will retail for R1699. The sneakers can be found at PUMA SELECT stores in Cape Town, Bree Street and Braamfontein, Johannesburg, as well as Anatomy and Shelflife from 10 July.
