First Look: Butan Wear’s Second Drop For This Season


Butan Wear has released their second drop for the season! Each piece in the collection has a cool and unique story. Peep the collection below, which is now available in stores and online!

‘Impi’ Baseball Cap


The cap pays homage to the fighting spirit of the indigenous tribes in Africa. It features a a deconstructed traditional shield logo.

‘Black Star’ Baseball Cap


The ‘Black Star’ baseball cap pays tribute to Pan-Africanism with the infamous tri-colour band embroidered on the left temple. The cap features a tribal mask on the front panel which serves as an identity to the roots of African people.

‘Wax Camo’ Pullover Hoody


The ‘Wax Camo’ pullover hoody features a combination of abstract camouflage and a pattern which is typically found on West African wax textile prints.

‘ZA-Kuza’ Crewneck Sweater


‘ZA-Kuza’ Reversible Bomber Jacket


The ‘ZA-Kuza’ crewneck sweater and reversible bomber jacket was inspired by the full body tattoo art which the Japanese Yakuza gangs are known to mark themselves with. The design has a uniquely South African twist on the art style, incorporating elements indigenous to South Africa in place of the Japanese elements which the Yakuza use.

First Look: Butan Wear Summer 2014

Since its launch, Butan Wear has been growing from strength to strength, year on year. For summer 2014, they are bring us various dope pieces, which is inspired from tribal patterns, protea patterns, cannabis leaves as well as Ndebele art to name a few.

Have a look dope pieces which is now available in stores:




The "Tribal" (includes sweat shorts, vest and a spoti) – the pattern is inspired by African art. It is a fusion between traditional basket art and various tribal patterns.




The “Protea77” (includes sweat shorts and snapbacks) - a flower print pattern which is inspired by the definitive stamp series of 1977, composed of a multitude of Protea plants that is growing in South Africa.



The “Homecoming V2.0” vest - the pattern inspired by Ndebele wall art.






The “Swazi Gold” (includes a vest and a spoti) - a print of cannabis leaves on 100% pure cotton.




The "Basket Case" snapback - the pattern on the under-visor of this piece is inspired by the many intricate patterns found on African baskets across the continent. The front embroidery boldly features Butan Wear’s “Undefeated” logo, taking the form of a deconstructed African warrior shield.

A First Look at Butan Wear’s Summer 2014 Snapbacks

Ahead of the impending summer season, Butan Wear brings us two new snapback ranges.

The ‘Protea77’ snapback is available in red/navy and white/charcoal. It features a flower print pattern, which is inspired by the definitive stamp series of 1977. Composed of a multitude of protea plants growing across South Africa. The front embroidery features the brand’s ‘undefeated’ logo, taking the form of a deconstructed African warrior shield.


The ‘Basket Case’ snapback is available in black/grey/white/mint. It features a pattern on the under-visor, which is inspired by the many intricate patterns found on African baskets across the continent. The front embroidery boldly features the brand’s ‘undefeated’ logo, taking the form of a deconstructed African warrior shield.

Butan Wear – Dope Snapbacks

Butan Wear brings us dope snapbacks to wear this season! 
Have a look below and let us know which one is your favourite. These snapbacks are available online and also countrywide at various retailers.



The ‘High Rollers’ snapback has a Melton crown and a P.U. leather brim. The design is inspired by the Zulu rickshaw pullers that ride along Durban’s beaches. The badge on the left is a rickshaw carriage wheel and the 3D embroidery on the front features the rickshaw puller’s headgear, made of ox horns. The ‘High Rollers’ snapback is available in navy-blue/red/white/gold.


Continuing with their ‘Street Kings’ series, the snapback features a large applique embroidery in the look of the LA Kings, the famous Los Angeles ice hockey team. The snapback pays homage to the legendary team and is also an ode to the days of the hip-hop golden era. The ‘Street Kings 14’ snapback is available in black/grey/white.




The design of the ‘Triller Than Most’ snapback is a tongue-in-cheek take on the iconic draught logo. It features weed leaves as opposed to barley and hops. The snapback is available in black/red/white/gold.
