MUST HAVE: PUMA x ALIFE – Another Dope Collection that is Inspired by Soccer and ALIFE’s New York Heritage

PUMA collaborated with ALIFE on another dope collection of apparel and footwear which comes in two parts - the first inspired by soccer and the second by the brand’s New York heritage.

Hustling and designing from their shop on the Lower East Side, the ALIFE crew will tell you how sports have had a long-lasting influence on the way they live and create street wear. The latest PUMA x ALIFE collection is built upon this passion and knowledge.

The first part takes inspiration from soccer, featuring the No.1 PUMA Archive logo and ALIFE’s 158 print - the player’s number representing the address of their shop at 158 Rivington Street. It includes the ALIFE soccer jersey tee (R899) with a double knit, wicking-finish and dry cell technology, providing a sportswear feel.

ALIFE’s passion for their city is embodied in the second part of the collection, inspired by the “Welcome to Fear City” pamphlets of 1975. Items include the Olympic Track Savannah jacket (R2799) and pants (R2199), Olympic Logo tee (R599) and Olympic Running tee (R699), emblazoned with the pamphlet’s text and logo.

Footwear in the PUMA x ALIFE collection sees the bustling atmosphere of New York’s streets come to life in the Blaze of Glory x ALIFE (R1999), with a sprayed speckle Trinomic tooling design executed in neoprene and nubuck leather. The collection also extends to the classic R698 silhouette (R1999) in two different models - one constructed from soft suede, embroidery and nubuck leather, while the second is black on black.

PUMA x ALIFE can be found at PUMA SELECT stores in Bree Street, Cape Town and Braamfontein, Johannesburg, as well as Shelflife, X–Trend and Madaiza from 13 February 2016.

ALIFE has always been associated with New York’s COOL. This season they have collaborated with PUMA and produced a really dope collection. The collection seamlessly pulls together ALIFE’s diverse creativity while staying true to PUMA’s heritage. Through apparel, footwear and accessories the collection tells the story of Downtown New York; an integral part of PUMA’s rich street wear history.

This week, I have ‘unlocked my swag’ with this cool collection.

Introducing PUMA’s Latest Collaboration With New York Lifestyle Concept ALIFE for Spring/Summer 2015

PUMA rekindles its partnership with New York lifestyle concept ALIFE through the release of their highly anticipated collaborative collection for SS’15.

Born in ‘99 ALIFE has always aimed to showcase New York City’s downtown youth street culture, focusing on original art and creativity. ALIFE’s concept store is a one of a kind boutique that stocks an impressive collection of new and authentic product that continues to elevate street style to a new level. The brand’s store is also home to the ‘ALIFE Sessions’, a series of ever-growing events with some of the world’s biggest musical artists.

The collection seamlessly pulls together ALIFE’s diverse creativity while staying true to PUMA’s heritage. Through apparel, footwear and accessories the collection tells the story of Downtown New York; an integral part of PUMA’s rich street wear history.

Bright prints play on key ALIFE landmarks that bring the collection to life. Influences include green photographic stills of the infamous in-store fish tank, and the three-diamond logo of ARC (ALIFE Rivington Club), ALIFE’s members only boutique.

The superb footwear offering adopts a similar approach. Classic PUMA Suedes are finished with rough treatment that recalls refer the gritty streets of the lower East Side, whilst iconic runners such as the R698s use repeat print to take inspiration from ALIFE’s in store mirror sign.
