First Look: Shoe Gallery x adidas Consortium Climacool 1 Flight 305

Shoe Gallery partners with adidas to reinterpret the classic Climacool 1 silhouette.

Named ‘Flight 305’, the story begins on Ocean Drive, the long road which runs along the South Beach waterfront, lined with the city’s now iconic art deco buildings. Painted in a variety of pastel shades, by day, these buildings change by nightfall – under the illumination of multicoloured neon signs – colours begin to warp and blend into one another.

These buildings serve as the inspiration behind the silhouette’s dynamic aesthetic, as it flaunts a stealthy black makeover, but in light, and with movement, the shoes’ striking effect is revealed. Beneath the dark outer mesh lies a XENO film membrane that mimics the multi coloured shimmer of snakeskin.

The Shoe Gallery x adidas Consortium Climacool 1 Flight 305 drops on Saturday, 7 January 2017, at selected retailers.

First Look: adidas Consortium x KITH ASPEN Pack

Throughout 2016, adidas has worked closely with Ronnie Fieg to put together the Aspen Pack.

The first model in the KITH Aspen pack is completely new – it is the first ever UltraBOOST Mid. Fieg's execution extends the original lower silhouette with a snug, sock-like enclosure at the ankle. The upper is cageless with a subtle taped panelling, a nod to the original adidas 3-Stripes branding. Rather than the conventional Primeknit, Fieg's new UltraBOOST Mid is constructed using a thicker space dyed yarn suitable for the winter months. It arrives in a festive multicolor pattern with laces to seamlessly match the upper.

The second model is a more conventional outdoor model. The Response Trail BOOST is fundamentally a trail shoe with a reputation for being tough and functional. Here it gets a lifestyle makeover. Still high on tech it comes equipped with a neoprene collar and a speed lacing system. The sole is a hybrid of exposed BOOST™ and hard-wearing, grippier rubber. Outdoor footwear is currently enjoying a big moment in the cities among sneaker enthusiasts looking for a shoe robust enough withstand the cold, while still providing them with the level of comfort they are accustomed to.

The adidas Consortium x KITH ASPEN Pack will drop on Saturday, 31 December 2016.

First Look: adidas Consortium x Highs and Lows EQT Running Support 93

Highs & Lows of Australia reworked the adidas EQT Support 93 and gave it a jaw-dropping upgrade inspired by the ‘Interceptor’, the beefed-up muscle car featured in the Mad Max franchise. This EQT is based on the muscle cars that rose to cinematic and cultural significance during the 1970s and 1980s. An era where cars were gutted, hybridized and pushed to their performance limits.

Using forged neoprene, waxed sailcloth, aged cowhide and nubuck, Highs and Lows toughens the iconic runner that would fit the rugged desert wasteland battlefield where most of the Mad Max franchise takes place. Flecks of sandy gold are speckled on the midsole, while the gradient effect on the three stripes represents the iconic zoomie exhaust pipes seen on the upgraded Ford Falcon XB Coupe.

The adidas Consortium x Highs and Lows EQT Running Support 93 ‘Interceptor’ will drop on Saturday, 17 December 2016.

Introducing the PureBOOST PK ZG & Samba by adidas Consortium x Livestock

adidas Consortium teams up with Canadian retailer Livestock to deliver a killer two-piece footwear package.

The PureBOOST PK ZG and Samba may hail from different eras of adidas’ history but both are bonded by the common theme of dynamic movement. During the conception phase Livestock explored the theme of sporting rhythms; the way elite athletes develop elegant, instinctive physical behaviors.

First up, Livestock reworks the PureBOOST PK ZG, a modern running silhouette. The black Primeknit upper is emboldened by a rich elastic crimson cross strap across the shoe’s body and contrasting screen printed stripes on the outer toe-box. The PureBOOST PK ZG’s sporting capacity is world renowned; it is a market-leading performance model. This version also features low-key Livestock insignia on the tongue and insole.

From cutting contemporary to something a little more classical, Livestock goes throwback with the adidas Samba. Whether it is indoor football or skateboarding, the Samba has lived on the front-line of sporting action for decades. Livestock's execution features black hairy suede and keeps detailing understated: we are talking screen printed stripes on the lateral and tonal leather stripes on the medial side as well as subtle gel-print lettering. Red is reserved for the insole and tongue label eyelets.

Livestock has thrown up a knockout combo celebrating the ever-changing role of performance footwear, highlighting the dynamics, the rhythm of movement in diverse sectors of sports and lifestyle activities.

The PureBOOST PK ZG & Samba will be available from 3 September 2016 at Shelflife store in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
